The small pre-flop raise (2.5x) priced him to call. After that, you just got unlucky.

Looks to me as though that guy hit a straight and you lost. As Shane once said, "Don't fall in love with top pair or a fishing guide from Cancun. Both will break your heart and make your ass sting."
