Just talked with Fawcett, who just registered for the Main Event as number 7436 or somesuch. The person in the cage speculated that 8,000 would be a good over/under number by tomorrow at noon. Fawcett's playing Saturday, Darling's playing Sunday, and Shane and I are playing Monday.
Fawcett is planning on sweating big-name pros all day tomorrow to get a sense of the action. We here at Batfaces will give you updates when we can.

Cardplayer says there are officially at least 8,532 players and up to 500 alternates per day. Todd may need to redo his odds.
